Phyllis McGinley

To practise my knowledge of CSS, I implemented a poetry class in my bloated template to honor the Oregonian poet, who was born today a century ago.

The Adversary in A Certain Age (1960)
A Mother’s hardest to forgive.
Life is the fruit she longs to hand you,
Ripe on a plate. And while you live,
Relentlessly she understands you.
